Questions

Why Egyptian Arabic and not Modern Standard Arabic?

Nobody flirts in Modern Standard Arabic. People flirt in their dialect, and Egyptian is the one most Arabic speakers understand, thanks to Egyptian films, TV and songs. Every card has Arabic script and a romanization.

What does “إنتي قمر” mean?

Inti ʾamar, “you’re a moon”, means “you’re gorgeous”. Said to someone you know, it’s a sweet compliment. Shouted at a stranger in the street it becomes معاكسة, which in Egypt means harassment, never cute flirting.

Is “حبيبي” always romantic?

No. Egyptians say ḥabībi to friends, family and even shopkeepers. Whether it’s romantic depends on who says it, how and when. It’s one of the lines in the quiz.

How spicy does it get?

Mild to spicy, never explicit: in Egypt that means romance rather than racy talk, from نخرج سوا؟ (“want to go out sometime?”) to عايز أتقدملك, “I want to ask for your hand”.

Is the pack really free?

Yes. A free account keeps all 40 lines in your deck, with audio, an example and a note on when to use each one. No card needed.
